This morning I did something I haven’t done in ten weeks: I swam. I finally, finally got the craving back, and while I know for a fact that I won’t be hopping in the pool 3x a week from here on out, it was a nice change of pace.
The best part of swimming in the off-season, or swimming after a 10-week break, is all bets are off. I can do whatever I want, swim as slowly as I want, not count distance not count time, just swim. That’s exactly what I did this morning. After some swim and pull warm-up, I pulled on the ginormous fins they keep on deck (seriously, they’re like scuba fins!) and did some kick and IM work. Turns out I still cannot backstroke, even with 12-inch fins, but I can butterfly?! How is that possible? I thought butterfly was supposed to be sooo hard, and backstroke was supposed to be soooooo easy? No. I cannot backstroke. I sink and sputter and flail.
I wrapped up with some random pulling, swimming, kicking without fins, and that was it. I have no idea how far I swam, or for how long (around 45 minutes though? I think?). I’ve got a run planned for this afternoon (also my first double in months!) so hopefully I will still have energy for that!
Since I have no relevant photos, here’s a picture I took at the barn last night. One of the minis fell asleep in his hay, and I thought it was too cute not to document.
Happy Thursday everyone!

cute picture! glad to hear you are back in the pool! the hardest part is putting on the swim suit… at least i think so!
Yeah, putting on my swimsuit is the hardest part, especially considering how much Halloween candy I’ve been eating.. hahahaha
